Violin

It's the leading instrument in the orchestra, and also the fiddle that puts the swing in country music--and when it's electrified, the violin is great for jazz and rock, too. With this introduction, everyone can experience the joy of playing. The lessons begin with an anatomy of the violin and bow, and continue through a presentation of the positions on the fingerboard, a discussion of dynamics and tempo and tips on preparing the instrument, positioning it, and tuning it. Beautiful pieces to play range from Brahms's Wiegenlied to Scollay's Reel, a traditional Irish folk tune.
