About the author:
John Graham is president of the Giraffe Heroes Project, which seeks out real heroes who have taken bold steps to solve important public problems and then spreads their stories through the media and school programs. Before joining the organization in 1983, Graham was an American diplomat for 15 years, serving in Libya, Vietnam, NATO and the US Mission to the United Nations. He has also written widely, including articles in major magazines and newspapers, and has run workshops.
